Scarlett Johansson is an American singer and actress who was born in the city of New York, in the United States on November 22 the 22nd of November, 1984. Her performance has won the attention of a broad variety of genres, including historical dramas, thrillers and action-packed adventures. Johansson was the daughter of an architect, and producer, was born on the streets of New York City. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest of four siblings. As a toddler she discovered an aptitude in acting. She began auditioning for commercials at age seven. After that, she was enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and then attended the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to improve her acting skills. At age eight she appeared with Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry and when she turned nine, she had her first film role on Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson then appeared for the first time in Just Cause, but she made her breakthrough in Manny & Lo, a film that follows orphaned siblings as they escape. The film, The Horse Whisperer, Johansson appeared as a teenager victimized by an horrific crash. The role she played in Ghost World, 2001 as the outcast teen Rebecca was a further boost to her profile.
